Album of the day in my house is Maggotts: The Record (1987) by Wendy O. Williams/Plasmatics. This is a concept album with a story about large maggots taking over the world… pretty cheezy dialog but the songs are still great. Apart from the dialog there is five songs on the album, all good but I would say “Destroyers” is the best.

Friday I saw “Iron Maiden. Flight 666″, and it was great to see the maiden show at the cinema, but I would have wanted longer live clips to be fully satisfied… but the finish with the whole song “Hallowed be thy name” was powerful and took me back to last years concert in Gothenburg.

It’s about two months until the Gothenburg metalfestival Metaltown starts, and so far the lineup is pretty weak. There are a few promising gigs like Opeth (played at the festival before), Meshuggah, Napalm Death and Municipal Waste. But thats about it.

One can understand that most of the money has gone to get big names like Slipknot and Marilyn Manson, but I really hope they can add more interesting names. A Swedish band like WOLF would be great (I know they are able/willing to come), or more unknown bands like Trident, In Solitude, Death Breath, Sonic Ritual, Necrophopic, Bastard Priest, Gravehammer, Agrimonia… hell the list could go on.
