West Coast Riot och Metaltown är över för denna gång, kul var det och varmt som satan, tur att jag inhandlade solskydd 50 så jag slapp oroa mig för solen. Det blev inte mycke fotat och kvalitén är inget vidare, men slänger upp ett par ändå. Jag tror det var blåsten som förstörde ljudet för många band och som vanligt var det alldeles för lågt. Metal ska fan kännas i magen! Nu behövde man mest öronpropparna för att slippa höra all skrikande/sjungande publik.

Got a great birthday gift from my girlfriend today, tickets to Metaltown and a bottle of Jack Daniels. Thanks E.

It’s about two months until the Gothenburg metalfestival Metaltown starts, and so far the lineup is pretty weak. There are a few promising gigs like Opeth (played at the festival before), Meshuggah, Napalm Death and Municipal Waste. But thats about it.

One can understand that most of the money has gone to get big names like Slipknot and Marilyn Manson, but I really hope they can add more interesting names. A Swedish band like WOLF would be great (I know they are able/willing to come), or more unknown bands like Trident, In Solitude, Death Breath, Sonic Ritual, Necrophopic, Bastard Priest, Gravehammer, Agrimonia… hell the list could go on.

Metaltown is over for this year and I had a great time. My brother came all the way from the north of Sweden to visit me and see some great metal. My highlight of the festival was to finally see Nifelheim live, they did a great gig. Their final words before leaving the stage… “Fuck off”.

Other good gigs I checked out was Graveyard, Satyricon (filled in for Opeth who cancelled), Dimmu Borgir, Amon Amarth, In Flames and Witchcraft. An important improvement at this years feast was that they had a better system in the bars and more personel, no 20 minutes wait to get a beer this time.

If I have to complain on anything it has to be the soundlevel on the concerts, tooooo fucking low!

The mighty Nifelheim is playing at the Metaltown festival in Gothenburg Sweden this friday (27th June). I haven’t seen them live before but I am sure they will deliver a hellish gig.

Metaltown got a great lineup 2008, this is the bands I will (try) to see. In Flames, Cavalera Conspiracy, Dimmu Borgir, Dark Tranquillity, Tiamat, Amon Amarth, Clutch, Opeth, Witchcraft, Graveyard and Torture Division.
